This site is an introduction to the many meaningful and sustaining careers in the high-growth, high-demand 'energy' industries, including construction, mining, oil and gas, transportation and alternative energy. The focus is on employment and training in the state of Alaska, but workers in these career areas are in demand all over the country.

Featured are the images and words of young people who have graduated from high school in Sitka, Alaska, and have found rewarding energy jobs. We hope their stories will encourage others to explore similar careers.

This site can take you to employers such as: BP, Alyeska Pipeline, Teckcominco, Alaska Marine Highway, Samson Tug and Barge, Totem Ocean Trailer Express, McGraw Custom Construction, and many others.

You will also find links to training and apprenticeship entities, such as: Alaska Works Partnership, Alaska Process Industries Careers Consortium, Delta Mine Training Center, the University of Alaska, Alaska Department of Labor, AVTEC, Job Corps, Northern Industrial Training, SEA Link, and many more.

Many of the energy jobs in these high-demand industries do not require college degrees. Virtually all of them will require some sort of training, but much of that can be accomplished in a matter or weeks or months, or through on-the-job apprenticeships. Whether you’re a high school student, or an adult, you’ll find something of interest by exploring these pages.
